Less Known Art Nouveau: Orleans, Dunkirk, Lille

Abstract Art Nouveau architecture during the last century experienced drastic change of attitude – from complete denial to glorification. However, many publications still repeat same stereotypes style assessment, focusing on decorative layer as seemingly main feature style. Some significant values heritage are only partially or incompletely recognized. In this paper, several less known examples in France, particular, cities Orléans, Dunkirk and Lille analysed. The architectural-artistic qualities these buildings revealed context both French wider cultural heritage. Nouveau, having been origin basis entire stylistic system modern architecture, completely meets principles contemporary Baukultur ideas.
